JIHAD ASSAAD

Jihad Assaad is a Lebanese qanun player recognized for his expressive performance style and modern approach to one of the Arab world’s most celebrated traditional instruments. His work bridges the qanun’s rich musical heritage with an energetic stage presence that brings the instrument closer to contemporary audiences.
In 2012, Assaad introduced his “Mobile Qanun” concept: a specially designed metal stand that allows him to perform while standing and moving freely on stage, transforming the normally seated performance into a more dynamic live experience.
Throughout his career, he has appeared alongside major Arab artists, including Majida El Roumi at Tunisia’s historic Carthage Festival and singer Adam. Through live concerts, musical covers, and online performance videos, Assaad continues to showcase the qanun as a powerful, evolving voice in modern Arabic music.
