DKTUR

DKTUR, born Tareq Asaad, is a Syrian-Palestinian rapper, singer, songwriter, and producer whose music brings together melodic trap, expressive vocals, and personal storytelling. Raised in the Muhajirin neighborhood of Damascus, he draws on his upbringing and experiences of displacement to explore identity, belonging, relationships, and the uncertainties of young adulthood.

Following his departure from Syria, DKTUR found a home in Marburg, Germany. Against a background of successive displacement shared by many Syrian-Palestinians, music became a space for confronting loss and working toward a stronger sense of self. His delivery moves between intricate rap flows and melodic, Auto-Tuned passages, giving his writing a distinctive emotional range. His songs make room for vulnerability, expressing the tensions of rebuilding a life while remaining connected to the places and experiences that shaped him.

His catalogue includes Histamine (2020), Karakeeb / كراكيب (2021), ما بتتغير (2022), and the four-track EP نورشان (2024), and 3ala Min with Assasi, alongside singles such as Mila, Tafasel, and عيون. His work also extends into composition and production, with collaborations including Mn Hon with Enana and رمان with Ortega and Nurulez.

Rooted in the working-class values he associates with his Damascus upbringing, DKTUR’s approach extends beyond his recordings. Through direct conversations with listeners, including Instagram live sessions, he has cultivated a community grounded in respect, openness, and shared experience. Across his work, he brings an intimate perspective to Arabic hip-hop, connecting the realities of displacement with the everyday search for connection and purpose.
