Sarbasst is a Kurdish hip hop artist and performer who was born and raised in Aleppo, Syria, where he lived until the age of 17. He later relocated to Athens, Greece, which has since become the base from which he continues to develop both personally and artistically.
He began making rap music in 2009, initially approaching it as a hobby. By 2013, however, music had evolved into both his passion and profession. Sarbasst writes and performs in three languages, primarily Arabic, as well as Greek and Kurdish, using his music to bridge cultures, identities, and sounds through his lyrics.
In 2015, Sarbasst released his debut mixtape, ANA, a 22-track project that marked an important milestone in his artistic journey. Two years later, he collaborated with producer Abu Ali on the 2017 EP Tari2 El Nahl. In 2018, he joined forces with rapper and producer Jundi Majhoul to create the EP Tankkit Soot. He followed this in 2021 with the deeply personal EP Sulta, produced by Haquin and JayZon.
Throughout his career, Sarbasst has collaborated with numerous artists from the regional rap scene, including Illiam, Ibrahim Basha, Nurulz, Othman, Rawazi, Elos Byuri, Asassi, and others. In 2023, he also participated in the Syrian Cypher alongside Big Hass, further establishing his presence within the broader Syrian and Arab hip-hop community.
Announced for 2025, Sarbasst’s upcoming album, QATAM, is designed to tell his story through rap. The project reflects on his personal journey, Kurdish identity, cultural experiences, and the realities he has lived through, bringing together the different places, languages, and experiences that have shaped him as both an artist and an individual.
