Everitte Barbee

Born in Nashville, Tennessee, in 1988, Everitte Barbee studied International Business and Arabic at the University of Edinburgh, Scotland. Based in Beirut, Lebanon, he continues to develop his practice as a calligrapher and artist.
His passion for art began early, but his study of Arabic calligraphy started in Damascus in 2009, where he trained under master calligrapher Adnan Farid in Ruq’a, Diwani, Square Kufic, and Diwani Jali.
Working in Diwani Jali, Barbee transforms Arabic text into intricate images. His approach balances detailed imagery with legibility, varying pen sizes within each composition while preserving the script’s traditional proportions.
A supporter of Bilad El-Sham since its beginnings, he contributed to the collective’s first album artwork, “Clinic Of Bilad El-Sham,” drawing on his calligraphy studies in Damascus. He also created the “الدومتيكسيرز” darbuka artwork used onstage at the album’s launch at Metro Al-Madina in Beirut in 2013, where he first met Syrian rapper and storyteller Assasi.
