GHALEB HAWILA

Ghaleb is a Lebanese Arabic calligraphy artist from Borj El Chemali in Tyre, South Lebanon. With a background in graphic design and formal training under established calligraphy masters, he has developed a contemporary visual language that moves beyond traditional calligraphic form. His work draws on arab heritage, spirituality, language, and the search for origins, transforming Arabic letters into expressive works across canvas, sculpture, installation, and public space.
Hawila’s work Nuqta was featured at the 8th Sharjah Calligraphy Biennial in 2018 and later exhibited at the Institut Français in Beirut in 2020. His work has since appeared internationally across the Middle East, Europe, Asia, and North Africa, including exhibitions and projects in Dubai, Germany, Japan, the United Kingdom, Qatar, Egypt, and Lebanon. He also created the artwork for Third World Wide, an album by Syrian hip-hop artist Assasi, in collaboration with the Bilad El‑Sham Collective.
